Tvheadend + Hauppauge 950Q not working

Added by Sean B about 9 years ago

I'm trying to make a DVR and I just got the last thing I need a couple days ago.

This is what I am using:

Raspberry Pi 2 Model B
Latest version of OSMC
Tvheadend 4.0.5
Hauppauge 950Q
Internet via Ethernet
5V 2A Power Supply

I am not using a powered USB Hub so if that is the problem I will get one, but if I don't need it I'd rather not.

I'm having trouble configuring Tvheadend. I created a DVB-C network and set character set to auto. I tried creating a Mux with the Frequency set to 474000000 and symbol rate set to 870000. That is what was used in a video I was following to setup tvheadend, but it didn't work. I got the error failed to tune e=Invalid argument. I tried the frequencies 687000000, 699000000, 705000000, and 711000000 with the symbol rate set to 870000, 5.120, and 512000. I got the same error each time.

I downloaded the firmware for the 950Q and moved to /lib/firmware so I don't think it is a driver issue.

There are two LEDs on the side of the 950Q. the top one is green and the second is yellow, indicating a moderate signal according to the manual. I'm not sure if that means anything, or if it is related to the problem.

Is there anything else I can try for the frequency and symbol rate. My TV provider is Comcast and I couldn't find anything about what frequency they use for cable TV.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

Thank you,

Sean.
