Mutiple tvheadend

Added by Fred Fred about 9 years ago

I have one WeTek Play and I liked it so much I bought another :) I use mine as a Tvheadend backed and it's connected to two satellite dishes, one input is Astra and the other is Thor.
What I wanted was the ability to have more satellite inputs, I tested a few usb devices and connected them to the Wetek but none of them was nearly as good as the built in receivers, so I bought another device.
What I will end up with is two completely separate devices, I can easily do a backup/restore between the devices to keep them similar and separate what device I connect to what so that I can view one program in the livingroom and another in the bedroom by pointing the client device to the different backends.
But, is there maybe a smarter way to do this? Maybe adding the tuner somehow from the second device to the first device, add a third tvheadend (I can run it as a virtual machine) and only use my Wetek as sat-imputs? Something to "tie the two devices together?"
If so, how do I do this?

Since I have two Wetek Play lets call them WT1 and WT2.
Since I dont want to screw with my current WT1 as other members of the family probably would kill me I setup a separate TVH on a virtual machine, lets call it TVH2.

On WT2:
Configuration - General, Sat>IP Server.
RTSP Port 554
Subscription Weight:100
Descramble Services (Limit Per Mux):1
Muxes Handling = 0
Exported DVB-S2 Tuners:1
Create my network (Thor), add Sat>Ip source number 1, select tuners and do a scan.
Test a client directly agains WT2 and view som channels, everything works as expected.

On TVH2.
Configuration - General, DVB Inputs.
I can see my network tuner here like any other sat ip server, it reports IP and Satellite Positions:1 and everything is correct, hit enable select network and ok.
Add the network and do a scan, here I do not set any Sat>ip position.
Test a client and start streaming, perfect, no problem at all.
It lists the tuner as one container and one postition #1 (AA).

Back on WT2:
Create my network (Astra), add Sat>Ip source number 2, select tuners and do a scan.
Test a client directly agains WT2 and view som channels, everything works as expected.
Change Exported DVB-S2 Tuners:2 and hit save.

Back on TVH2
Wait a bit for TVH2 to pick up the change and eventually the other tuner pops up.
A new container comes up listing Tuner #2 and Satellite Positions:2.
But this time TWO Positions comes up, Position #1 (AA) and Position #2 (AB), wtf?
Anyway, I enable both and select Astra network and scan for channels - nothing.
2015-11-01 12:10:32.008 subscription: 01BE: "scan" subscribing to mux "11385V", weight: 6, adapter: "SAT>IP DVB-S Tuner #2 (192.168.blurred)", network: "Astra", service: "Raw PID Subscription"
2015-11-01 12:10:42.008 mpegts: 11385V in Astra - scan no data, failed

When other members of the family have gone to bed I go to WT1.
There are the tuners listed exactly as on TVH2 and I test streaming from WT2 but my client against WT1, this works for the Thor network, the first one, but not for Astra network, the second one.

So.. I'm clearly doing something wrong somewhere... anybody out there who have a working setup that can give me some useful information?
