Total Beginner - Freesat

Added by Luke Bateson about 9 years ago

Hello, I'm a total beginner to this and I'm struggling to get just the Freesat channels tuned in. I have a twin tuner DVB-S.

Briefly: I'm setting up network, pointing to 28.2. Then assigning network to both adopters, enabling them, let them scan etc. I'm then enabling the England HD NE&C/Tyne and Wear bouquet and clicking auto map to channels - but nothing happens..?

No channels appearing in list..
I literally only want the Freesat channels and I'm afraid if I click 'map all' it will also tune all the random unencrypted channels?

Anyone able to help
Cheers
Luke

Check the following.

  • You've set the orbital position for your network. Go to Configuration -> DVB Inputs -> Networks highlight your network, click on edit & then use the list box next to Orbital Position to find 28.2E.
  • Make sure you have "Auto-Map to Channels" and "Map Zero Numbers" enabled. (Yes this does sound odd but it's a known bug).
  • Make sure that you have the Freesat Home transponder on 11428000 H 2750000 2/3
  • Try streaming a service from the above transponder for a minute or two, This is where the EPG data comes from. While you're streaming a service enable the bouquet, it should hopefully map the services to channels.
  • If you find some services missing it means you're missing transponders in this case delete all transponders from the Network and add 11778000 V 27500000 2/3 and 11428000 H 2750000 2/3. Make sure you have Network Discovery enabled for the Network. Tvheadend will find all available transponders using the NIT table from the above frequencies. Wait for the scan to finish before attempting to enable a bouquet, if you have no bouquets stream a service from the home transponder. You should see a list of found bouquets in the debug pane.

Hope this helps!
