HDHomeRun Connect or Extend with OTA ATSC? Use DLNA?
Added by Will Stewart over 9 years ago
Am running Ubuntu Studio 14.04 on a 4 year old Dell Latitude laptop with 4G RAM. Has anyone managed to configure HDHomeRun Connect or Extend with OTA ATSC? I've seen some entries where DVB was pulled from dvbhomerun from unencrypted cable, though OTA ATSC is a bit different.
And does TVH support DNLA sharing so I can view the TV programs on my Vizio E3D420VZ, or do I just use miniDLNA, etc? Would the .mkv format be an issue here (Vizio TV)?
EDIT: Tried Rygel, and I am able view, access, and play mp4 and avi via DLNA (have not tried other formats yet, such as .mks). Am doing so over a long, weak wireless connection, so the video is very slow to play, stops very frequently. No sound yet. Will look next at TVMobili.
EDIT2: I created an mkv video file with Openshot and stored it in my video folder where I've the other video files I can run on my TV. The mkv file does not show up on the Vizio list of readable video files, so TVHeadEnd may not be the solution that will work for me.
