Assigning Stream Profiles to individual Channels

Hello,
I thought it might be worth discussing the idea of assigning Stream Profiles (like transcoding or passthrough) to individual channels, rather than being assigned to users within Access Entries.
One benefit would be the ability to choose which channels can be transcoded - for example HD channels could be skipped, and SD channels could be transcoded (maybe due to hardware reasons). Or the other way around. Or maybe apply different resolutions/bitrates to specific channels.
Consideration has to be made in regard to:
- the current ability to assign a Stream Profile from DVR Profiles
- the current ability to assign a Streaming Profile from Access Entries
How can it be integrated with these options, and which one should have priority?
Awaiting input on this matter. If it turns out to be reasonable, both in terms of usability and coding, where could I make a feature suggestion?
