Live TV video lag --- RPiBplus+Kodi+Hauppauge 950Q+TVHeadend
Added by Daniel C almost 10 years ago
I'm on a Raspberry B+ installed with the latest version of Kodi. I'm using a Hauppauge 950Q as a TV Tuner, and TVHeadend as my PVR software.
Everything under "TV" seems to be setup correctly as I get the channel listings I'm expecting. But I'm having some problems with the decoding.
Originally, when I selected any channel, I would get the audio signal, but no video. Not even a black screen. It would just show the XBMC menu and play the audio. After poking around, I discovered that under System->Settings->Video->Acceleration, when I disabled the OMXPlayer selection, I got video and audio but they were so choppy as to be un-watchable. I tried switching to Software decoding rather than Hardware accelerated, but got the same choppy effect.
Unfortunately, with the OMXPlayer option disabled, it also has the same choppy effect when playing local 1080p video files that had played perfectly before.
I'm new to the XMBC world, so I would appreciate any ideas you could pass my direction. If I can post any log files or additional information that would help, please let me know Thank you in advance.

[SOLVED] Turned out I needed an MPEG2 licence.....which was strange to me as I got video with the OMX player disabled.
