Using web player with Mac OS X
Added by Vincenzo Rubano almost 10 years ago
Hi all,
I've installed tvheadend on a Banana Pi, a single board computer with 1 GHZ dual core processor and 1 GB RAM DDR3. I've installed version 3.4 from the "stable" tvheadend repository on Debian Wheezy.
I set it up and configured it successfully, but I am not able to use the web player using Safari on Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10. The error message I get when clicking on the "watch tv" button is: "It looks like you are missing the VLC mozilla plugin"; however, this plugin is deprecated and cannot be installed on Mac OS X since version 10.6 Snow Leopard. I've read that I could use an html5-based web player by going to
tvheadend_ip:tvheadend_port/tv.html
but I cannot get it to work: I only see a message saying "1 unknown return code" that does not generate any entry in the syslog of the machine running tvheadend.
So, how can I watch TV streams from tvheadend using my browser or any other application on Mac OS X? Since I want to watch dvb-t streams, I think this could be a transcoding problem; however, I didn't find any way to see if transcoding on my setup is running or not; in addition to this, I'd like transcoding to happen on the client-side rather than on the tvheadend-side.
Thanks in advance for your help!
