continuity counter error with background EPG scanning
Added by Anonymous almost 10 years ago
Yesterday I updated from a very stable 3.5x to 3.9.2203. Now i'm getting continuity counter errors every hour when "epgdb: saved ... " appears in the log. Additional i can see sometimes a small timeout when watching live TV. This timeout is not logged but in the same moment the log shows "epggrab subscribing to mux ...".
Maybe someone can tell me if i can fix it myself in the source code and recompile?
edit: EPG scanning is out of control. when i reboot xbmc tvheadend log shows "no transponder available" and i can't watch tv. EPG scanning is running on 2 tuners and it blocks my live TV after reboot.

I suggest you disable "Over the air EPG" at the Adapter level (Parameters - Basic settings) and collect your EPG at a time when you will not be recording/streaming via the (relatively new) Mux Schedulers tab.
Flip side: you have to find out which mux has the EPG for your favorite provider. This could be done by watching your syslog (or log) to see which mux (by the tuning messages) gives you "timer updated" etc. messages.
Also, at the Network tab, disable Idle Scan and select Skip Initial Scan.
If you watch channels in civilized areas, you could consider switching to an XMLTV source and giving up on EPG.
