Can multiple HDHomeRun units be used with TVHeadend?
Added by MArk Coleman almost 10 years ago
Forgive me if this is a dumb question...
I have one HDHomeRun Dual setup and working with TVHeadend 3.9 and both tuners work great. I'm hoping to add a second Dual so that I can have up to 4 simultaneous recordings, but I wasn't sure if TVHeadend and/or dvbhdhomerun can discover and utilize the tuners and streams from 2 HDHomeRun Dual units? My other option is to get the HDHomeRun Prime which has (AFAIK) 3 ATSC tuners (I only record OTA signals, no cable).
So, the questions are:
Two HDHomeRun Dual units to one TVHeadend running dvbhdhomerun- can it be done?
HDHomeRun Prime with 3 ATSC tuners and OTA to one TVHeadend- anyone successfully running this setup?
Thanks!

Follow Up:
I found a good deal on a 2nd HDHomeRun Dual (this one is the newer model, HDHR4-2US whereas the one I already had is the HDHR3-US). Plugged it in and connected it to the network, gave it a static IP address (always a good idea), restarted TVheadend and I'm happy to report that it picked it up and now sees 4 tuners! Tested it out and had 3 streams recording simultaneously.
So if anyone else out there is wondering, you can just plug and play more HDHomeRun devices.
