Need help in understanding SAT>IP configuration
Added by ullix tv about 10 years ago
I use this 8channel SAT-IP LNB and as reported (https://tvheadend.org/boards/5/topics/13486) I am very, very happy with it!
However, each tuner has subsettings for 4 "Positions" named AA, AB, BA, and BB. I thought this sets the maximum number of channels, which can be recorded/watched for each tuner, but this is not the case as could record 7 channels.
Can somebody explain what this is for, and what limits are imposed by either the SAT technology, the SAT>IP LNB, or tvheadedn? Thanks.

The inverto support has kindly answered my email and referred to the SAT>IP Protocol Specification found here: http://www.satip.info/resources. See page 44 for info on Positions.
The positions refer to the "selection of a satellite orbital position", like 19.2E, 13E, 28.2E, ...
In my case, only Position #1 AA works, so must be enabled. If only any of the other positions are enabled, I get no signal at all. Not sure why not, as 19.2E should also apply to them? On the other hand, it does not seem to harm anything, having them enabled.
