August DVB-T210
Added by derp derp over 10 years ago
Hi. Was wondering if this was compatible with tvheadend as there's not much information from users about this device. Does anyone have one? Is it working well with DVB-T2 channels and HD channels?
please let me know! thanks!

Hi Crazy cat,
As promised here is dmesg and scan output (sorry I only have scan available no scan-s2, hope its ok). This time I tried it out on x86_64

Any ideas? This is for a T220A (Bus 002 Device 009: ID 0572:c686 Conexant Systems (Rockwell), Inc.)
Thanks as always

Some more info:
I managed to get the adapter to work after after compiling your tbsdrivers repo (master) on x86_64, so it seems that the issue is either in media_build or the patch. The only issue on x86_64 is that tv headend fails to open frontend1 (DVB-C), I do not have DVB-C so I cannot test.
I can't compile tbsdrivers on pi since there are some objects that are precompiled for x86_64 in the repo. Once we can get this to compile on the pi I will be able to test VHF.

Hi Mark,
you can check this VHF muxes under Windows ?

Hi,
I only have VHF on the pi, I can only test it there Do you have an ETA on the submission of these patches to media_tree? Once there I should be able to compile them on the pi hopefully.

Hi,
Following this thread with interest as just bought the T210 also and received this "v2.0" which OpenElec on my Pi doesn't recognise.
I attempted to use the nightly build based on 3.17 hoping that would help and it didn't.
I tried the v4l build instructions but got a build error, think it was something about no instructions in a 'firmware' folder.
Still pretty new to Linux and the Pi specifically but let me know if I can help. The £30 pvr dream has fallen short at the moment.

Hi Crazy cat,
I went through the hassle to rewire everything and can confirm that T220A works with VHF DVB-T @ 177.5 MHZ (No T2 in my area yet) on x86_64.
Do you have the T220A patches merged into some other repo other than your tbs? This would allow me to test (compile) the drivers on ARM as well (applying the patches provided by yourself to media_build results in broken drivers).

Yes, I tried those. media_build with those patches compiles fine on ARM and x86_64 but driver does not work. Only driver that works is your TBS repo, but that is only for x86_64 so cannot test with ARM, any idea when these patches will be merged into media_tree?

RE: August DVB-T210 - Added by Olli Salonen about 10 years ago
The T220A driver loads ok and everything looks good, but w_scan does not find a single channel - not from VHF (3 muxed DVB-T2) or UHF frequency (2 muxes DVB-T2, 4 muxes DVB-T). Another adapter on the same antenna cable finds them all. When trying to zap a channel, the FE does not lock.
$ dvbv5-zap -c ~/dvb_channel.conf -a 0 -I DVBV5 -o ~/test.ts -r -t 5 Yle\ TV1 using demux '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0' reading channels from file '/home/olli/dvb_channel.conf' service has pid type 05: 6001 tuning to 562000000 Hz video pid 512 dvb_set_pesfilter 512 audio pid 650 dvb_set_pesfilter 650 (0x00) Signal= 100.00% C/N= 0.00% UCB= 0 postBER= 0
Just to be clear, I tried with the patch you posted 2 hours ago (as well as the earlier one).

You are missing the firmware file dvb-demod-si2168-b40-01.fw and dvb-tuner-si2158-a20-01.fw. Download all si2168 and si2158 firmwares from here and copy them into /lib/firmware and try again.

Hi Crazy Cat,
I can confirm that the latest patches work ! I tested on a raspberry pi. The video was somewhat choppy, but I guess this is an issue with the pi. Hope these are merged into media_tree soon

Hi Mark,
Can you tell me what you did to get the T220A (the one with Sony demod and TDA tuner) working? I took a recent media tree, applied CrazyCat's patches on top of that and compiled media build. Unfortunately I can't get a lock on any channel... Maybe I missed something here.
Cheers,

Thanks for that Olli - all up and running and playing on vlc now.
The next step of compiling this for OpenELEC on the Pi looks a bit tougher though...

Hi crazy cat,
On the pi I get a lot of continuity errors with the T220A, could this be related to the driver? On x86 it works fine

That is exactly what I did! With the second version of the patches, the tuner works but I get lots of continuity errors on a raspberry pi

RE: August DVB-T210 - Added by Olli Salonen about 10 years ago
I compiled the T220A driver again and now it works at least a bit better.
Here's an example on a VHF DVB-T2 channel:
olli@dl160:~/src/v4l-utils/utils/dvb$ ./dvbv5-zap -c ~/dvb_channel.conf -o ~/test.ts -t 15 Yle\ TV2\ HD
using demux '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'
reading channels from file '/home/olli/dvb_channel.conf'
ERROR command DVBT2_PLP_ID_LEGACY (43) not found during store
tuning to 184500000 Hz
video pid 312
dvb_set_pesfilter 312
audio pid 860
dvb_set_pesfilter 860
Lock (0x1f) Signal= 90.40% C/N= 0.36% UCB= 238 postBER= 0
Lock (0x1f) Signal= 90.40% C/N= 0.36% UCB= 238 postBER= 0
Record to file '/home/olli/test.ts' started
copied 13691288 bytes (891 Kbytes/sec)
Lock (0x1f) Signal= 90.26% C/N= 0.36% UCB= 238 postBER= 0
I believe the C/N ratio is not reported correctly in the stats, it's probably not that bad?
But, w_scan for example will only find about half of the muxes here:
DVB-T muxes:
3 of the 4 UHF muxes
DVB-T2 muxes:
1 out of 3 VHF muxes
1 out of 2 UHF muxes
Whereas from the same antenna socket an Si2168+Si2158 based device will find all of them.

Hi
Can someone confirm T220A/T230 will work with DVB-C?
Thanks.

Dont' think this patches against media_tree/master anymore. I used this instead of 0003-cxusb-Geniatech-T230-support.patch and rebuilt.
Seems to get it recognising everything again but I keep getting "bulk message failed" messages now though.
