TVHeadend newbie

Hi all
Brief Intro (skip to problem if not interested)
I've been running mythtv under ubuntu for some years and latterly moved temporarily to mediaportal under win 7. I have a dedicated server machine with an i7-4770K processor with on board graphics. Trouble with getting Intel 'linux drivers' to yield decent graphics performance pushed me back to Win 7 simply to get a system running in order to have a PVR plus generic server. Performance under win 7 is fairly dire and since Ubuntu 13.10 plus kernel 3.12.6 finally allows the 5.1 audio to work correctly and now seemingly the video acceleration I would like to move back to Ubuntu 13.10 and then 14.04 as and when it is ready and stable. Before installing mythtv 0.27 a friend recommended I look at tvheadend as it is maturing fast. I use xbmc as the froint end of choice.
The Problem
OS is Ubuntu 13.10 plus kernel 3.12.6. My hardware is an i7-4770K plus TBS6985 and TBS6284 (dvb-s2 and dvb-t2 quad cards). I have successfully compiled the TBS drivers (they worked under myth in the past). Looking at the logs indicates that they are being recognised correctly without errors. I have built tvheadend from the git source as per https://tvheadend.org/projects/tvheadend/wiki/Building and run the code in test mode from the build directory both as the normal user and latterly under sudo su in case it is a permissions problem. The web interface works fine, I have configured streaming users and admin users no problem. The documentation is doubtless behind the current code state (no complaints, just an observation) so I am a little blind trying to configure the DVB cards. All eight tuners are found but I have no idea how to set them up. When I select a tuner and enable it the relevant dropdowns are empty and I am not able to continue.
So my questions are:
1. Has the configuration interface changed in later versions (I'm using the latest git as of today)?
2. What should I be doing in order to configure the tuners?
3. Even though my tuners are recognised are they not supported yet?
Any suggestions gratefully received before I install mythtv 0.27 (good program but horrible, ancient GUIs)
Cliff

The current git checkout is version 3.9 and still under heavy development. This version has lots of changes in how tuners and networks are set up (which is a great improvement).
First you have to configure "Networks". Then you can assign these networks on your tuners. This way you have to configure a network only once, and you are able to use it on more than 1 tuner without configure another (sanme) network for each tuner.
In case you would like to use the stable version of tvheadend, you should use the 3.4 branch.
Hopes this will help you.

Thanks for the feedback, I will have a look at Networks in that case....
