Need Help Installing TVHE on pi4 with Ubuntu
Added by Russ Spindler over 3 years ago
I have a raspberry pi 4 with Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS (GNU/Linux 5.4.0-1028-raspi aarch64) installed as the operating system. I am having a terrible time trying to install TVHE. I am following the instructions at https://tvheadend.org/projects/tvheadend/wiki/AptRepositories. I seem to be able to install the repository OK but when I go to update it I get the following message:N: Skipping acquire of configured file 'main/binary-arm64/Packages' as repository 'https://apt.tvheadend.org/stable focal InRelease' doesn't support architecture 'arm64'.
Does this mean that I cannnot use the Operating System I installed on the Pi? If so, any recommendation on what will work? I think I want a 64bit system right? Better to run stable or unstable TVHE? The instance of TVHE (assuming I get it running) will be accessing an HDHomerun Prime. I have had this running on a laptop so I know it works but I need it to run on the PI. I've never messed with Raspberry Pi's before so I guess I am missing something.
thanks for any help

I don't see any Ubuntu on Raspberry Pi mentioned on that page...
I build from source for my Pi4, so I haven't tried installing this way, but you'll likely get more joy with Raspbian. Install Raspbian buster lite if you want to run the pi headless.
You should install TVH stable unless you have a good reason to do otherwise.
32 bit is fine with the Pi4.
