Slow Initial Scan
Added by Robert Walker about 4 years ago
I have been trying to complete an initial scan. When I get to the step where it has a progress bar, it goes directly to 100%. I wait for a few minutes and it does not reset to 0%. Nothing is happening in the background. I clicked the back button and deleted and re-pasted the URL. It finally started. I have 34,000 channels to scan. I hear people talk about it only 8 hrs. I thought that maybe they had only 9000 channels. I am only at 26% and on my 3rd day. It has only picked up on only 956 channels. Some of these channels are VOD. I am not sure how many though. Is there a reason that it is taking so long and why it only seems to be finding a fraction of my channels?

Reduce EPG timeout, to accelerate scan.

what would you suggest?
By the way. I thought by answering the email notification it would send my message here and not directly to you. Sorry about that.

Go to:
Configuration > Channel/EPG > EPG Grabber
most down in settings there is a
EPG scan time-out in seconds (30-7200):
set it to 30
Adding more tunners accelerate scan job

It is not my EPG that is downloading slow. It is the actual channels. I just installed the software and went through the wizard and I am on the step where it is telling me to please wait while it scans for Muxs and Services. Is there a way to Import my channels directly and skip the scan. I already know the channels are fine because my provider verifies and updates there list daily.

Import not possible, except when you make beckup on your oun config.
Skip Wizard, configure manual.

What exactly manual settings make it faster?
