IPTV Setup, setting multiple inputs, same channel
Added by Chris Nicholaidis over 8 years ago
We're running headend on Ubuntu 14.04 and using 4.0.8-15.
Running into issues trying to set things up. We're running TV Headend in front of a multicasting IPTV panel using headend to allow for timeshifting and recording with Kodi as a frontend client.
The issue is this- we want to have multiple inputs for a channel because if 1 client is watching a channel it then becomes very slow to start on another client- sometimes not starting at all. The same if we record a channel, whilst recording the channel recording either won't start or is very slow to start. The way round it as far as I can see is to have multiple inputs for a channel so 1 input for recording, and additional inputs as different clients access the same channel. Via the IPTV we can output and run alot of streams- we have 96GB of RAM on a Xeon Processor which is more than enough for this.
So- how on earth am I supposed to set this up? No matter how I try in Headend it will only use 1 source even if I have 5 muxes assigned to a channel. Is it something to do with stream priority? I've tried settingb each mux up numerically- 5 down to 1 but it still only uses a single mux every time. I've tried leaving all at 0 but still only uses 1 of the muxes despite viewing the channel on 3 clients and recording at the same time.
Any suggestions very, very welcome before I tear my hair out.
Another issue is that if we have recording set to the HTSP profile it crsahes Kodi when trying to stop a recording so we have it set to mkx which seems to work but you can only play the recording once it's finished whereas with htsp I understand you can view as it records?
