Question about a motorised DVB-S set up

Added by Liam H almost 11 years ago

Hi guys,

I have recently come across this software after deciding to replace my individual TV box set ups with a centralised TV server and clients running XBMC on a couple of PCs and a Raspberry Pi.

I am experimenting with the motor settings (on TVheadend v3.9.317 from the beta repository) on a dish I have out back. Unfortunately I am unable to get it to play.

So far I have set the satconfig to advanced and then told it I have 2 orbital positions and 0 DiseqC repeats.
The dish is already pointing at 13°E, having been sent there before I unplugged it from my old sat box.
On the next screen I have told it to look at a network I have set up for 13E and that the switch type is none and the rotor is USALS.

Then I have taken the site lat/long from my old receiver and entered them into the sat position screen along with the orbital position of satellite (just entered 13 - am i right with this?). I have no idea what I should enter for rate as I've no idea what this means!.

I've also entered similar details in for another satellite easily receivable from my location (19.2E).

Whilst there's a green light on at the motor (a TM-2600 by the way), the thing doesn't seem interested in any attempts to scan 19.2E. It scans 13, but only I presume because it's already there.

Any hints or tips that could point me to where I am going wrong would be very gratefully received.

Thanks in advance

Liam

The last time I checked the master code of tvheadend on my morotised setup I found that it was not working propperly and was not changing frequency as well as not moving the dish. it seems there is a bug and the last time I asked Adam about this he said he was going to need to buy a motor to try this out. that was before christmas and i've been to busy to go on the irc channel to see if there is an update. Hopefully adam could say something here on the subject.
