PCTV nanoStick T2 - "Input not detected", "Mux not enabled", "No hardware present"

Added by Peter Hargreaves almost 12 years ago

Xtreamer Ultra 2
OpenElec compiled 15th October
XBMC 2.0.0
TVHeadend 3.1.694
PCTV (USB) nanoStick T2 detected as Sony CXD2820R (DVB-T/T2)

Could I have some help please, this might be a new bug or two, I need help to decide? Thank you.

I have the above set-up and working very well indeed, receiving UK Freeview TV. (I did have to enter the latest muxes manually via the Tvheadend browser interface.) However, I occasionally get randomly occurring failures, which seem to be related, with the following messages from tvheadend: "Input not detected", "Mux not enabled" or "No hardware present".

"Input not detected". When this failure occurs I can sometimes get it working again by doing a soft power down from the Ultra 2 remote. Other times, I then get "Mux not enabled".

"Mux not enabled". When I get this failure, I usually have to go in through the Tvheadend browser interface to re-enable all the muxes. However, sometimes the check boxes are missing - so I have to click blindly - then save.

"No hardware present". When I get this failure I have to power down by unplugging, then re-powering, then might have to re-enable the muxes.

Does anybody recognise any of this buggy behaviour, or suggest how I should progress this issue? Thank you.

I recognise the no hardware present as it was happening to me when I rebooted every now and then on xbmcbuntu. AFAIK the reson was that I have more than one tuner and upon rebooting ubuntu was assigning different internal ids to the tuners so I have to lock them to stop this happening after a reboot.

I used the instructions here from this section "Alternatives to udev for naming for DVB cards (The adapter_nr module option)"

I have a very similar setup to you :

Openelec XBMC
PCTV 290e USB stick

I've not had any of the errors you've got, the only difference with mine is that I am on TVHeadend 3.2.18. Could you maybe try upgrading to that?

Thanks for the feedback folks.

Problem solved. I had the nanoStick plugged into a USB3 port. As soon as I moved it to a USB2 port, it has been fine. So beware of USB3!!!!!!!!!!!!
