XBMC - Can't play HD content

Added by Anonymous about 12 years ago

I'm running the latest git release (frodo) of XBMC and the PVR client from opdenkamp's repository.

This latest release has issues running HD content - I cannot play any 720p or higher content with my ATI Radeon. XBMC gives a garbled screen but the audio is fine. This is repeated from xbmc:
Failed to open VDPAU backend libvdpau_nvidia.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Failed to open VDPAU backend libvdpau_nvidia.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
libva info: VA-API version 0.33.0
libva info: User requested driver 'xvba'
libva info: Trying to open /usr/lib/dri//xvba_drv_video.so
libva info: Found init function __vaDriverInit_0_32
libva info: va_openDriver() returns 0
xvba_video: XVBA_CreateGLSharedSurface(): status 11
xvba_video: XVBA_CreateGLSharedSurface(): status 11
xvba_video: XVBA_CreateGLSharedSurface(): status 11
xvba_video: XVBA_CreateGLSharedSurface(): status 11

Interesting that it tries VDPAU?? I have an AMD Radeon device... Has anyone seen this before? Not sure what is causing it. I can run the content fine from other boxes with other video types.

FYI - it seemed no matter whether I rolled back to Eden or used Frodo I could NOT play my HD content from tvh. What was even more confusing was that I could play a recording from tvh that was in HD!

Regardless, I decided to pull the AMD Radeon card and drop in an NVidia card and problem solved. That, along with my new 55" LED 3D TV, and I'm happy again :)
