Raspberry PI, LibrELEC, Kodi and TvH
Added by Mark Preston over 5 years ago
I'm seeing conflicting accounts of whether TVHeadend can be powered by a Raspberry PI.
Can this stack record and playback? I can see:
http://192.168.0.103:9981/extjs.html -- but none of the channels will open in Totem or VLC. It has a EPG program guide (grid) and offers to Switch or Record or Timer, but trying those causes the stack to freeze and usually it will reboot itself after a while. I'm sorry if I'm not posting enough info. I've been at this less than a week, please bear with me.
Raspberry PI (model B+ 512 meg RAM)
LibreELEC (official): 8.2.5 (RPi.arm)
Kodi (v. 17.6 "Krypton")
tvheadend: version 4.2.6-7 ~ LibreELEC Tvh-addon v8.2.113
and the tuner hardware is
HDHomeRun CONNECT (this is 2 tuners)
Model: HDHR4-2US

Possibly, but you might be asking a bit much of your Pi.
A Pi 3 can manage this, you might be running low on memory.

I was, also at first, a bit disappointed that direct viewing from the TVheadend webpage did not work (with Rhythmbox, totem and vlc). When I streamed it to another raspberry with Kodi it all worked quite well. I also think it is a performance/memory problem. Dividing the task over two raspberries has the benefit that you can locate your antenna wherever reception is optimal.

My bottleneck was the 100mbit limit. I have 2 tuners and each TV stream is 20 mbps MPEG2. Pi3 chokes when read/write 2 shows simultaneously. Had to move to x64 machine.
