Tvheadend

I am trying to view over the air TV with OpenElec v5.02 and have what is probably a really dumb question. Everything seems to be working but I do not see any video. I configured tvheadend backend, it finished a scan, and found all the local OTA stations. The OpenElec main menu now includes "TV". When I click on "TV" the list of channels appears on the left. If I click on a channel a small dialog box opens on the top of the screen that says "buffering" and it starts at 0% and within a few seconds counts up to 100%. That dialog box then closes and a counter in the lower left corner of the screen begins counting up. There is what looks like may be a "play" arrow to the left of the counter in the lower left corner of the screen. If I click that arrow another dialog box opens with what may be PVR controls. At no point though do I see any video, just the static desktop picture on the right side of the screen.

I am running OpenElec on Raspberry PI 2 and do not have a hard drive attached. I know I would need a hard drive to record video but assumed I would not need one to watch live. I have never used OpenElec or any media center before so please forgive the newbie question. Thanks for the assistance.
