RPi2/RPi TVH Client streaming HD TV channels Audio stopping [semi-solution?]

Added by Anonymous almost 9 years ago

I was having issues with the Audio cutting out on streamed HD channels, the audio would cut out and not come back, in an effort to find out why, I tinkered with a lot of settings in the TVH web panel and now the audio cuts out a lot less, and sometimes even comes back on its own after a few seconds. This is my second TVH / Kodi XBMX setup.

Setup: RPi2 running OpenElec Kodi with TVH backend Build: 4.0.8 ~ OpenELEC Tvh-addon v6.0.3, PCTV model: 292e using Freeview DVB-T
Timeshift enabled with on-demand, USB connected storage as location for everything including timeshift / recordings.
Single standard RPi in seperate room running kodi and tvh as client, connected to network via ethernet
Tried: Different RPi client to rule out it being the fault, different ethernet cables, various versions of TVH and Kodi to no avail

The Issue: Audio whilst streaming HD channels to the client RPi would frequently stop and never come back. Enabling Restart and continue on access error did nothing.

The weird semi-solution: On the default Pass stream profile I Disabled Rewrite: PMT, PAT, SDT, EIT and changed default priority to High. Why did this improve things?

The audio now cuts out a lot less, and when it does cut out, often it comes back, I havent had the audio cut out and be gone completely in around 3 hours of use, havent had it on longer yet, whereas before it would require a channel switch to get it back which needed to be done every 15-20 mins or so.

Posting as I was thinking it might shed some light on this weird audio thing, apologies if this has already been mentioned I couldnt find anything on this subject, other than a few topics via a google search which returned others with similar issues with HD audio.
