recording live tv

Added by Matt W about 9 years ago

This probably has a simple solution but I can't seem to find it

I have a RPi2 running openelec and Kodi. I am trying to record Tv shows. I have a USB HDD hooked up.

When I set the timer it seems to be recording but when the recording is finished the file disappears. There doesn't seem to be an error message.

I thought the problem was the setting in the folder field but I can't seem to find the right setting. I've tried the default setting, the relative path the way its mounted and every combination I can think of.

Any help?

You say "the file disappears". Are you saying the file is there during recording but then is removed?

Some examples would be infinitely more useful than "every combination I can think of" - we don't know what you can think of. Knowing the path to your HDD would help too.

What I mean by the file disappears is that during the recording there is an entry in the "recordings" menu but it disappears from that list as soon as the recording is done.

When I navigate to the HDD through the settings interface the path is /var/media/HDDname/. I've tried this as well as /var/media/HDDname/foldername/ but didn't get anything. When I go to the recordings menu and try to navigate it seems to default to the HDD directory so I tried leaving the folder field blank and with just a /. I've also tried /foldername/. The HDD name has a blank and some places it is listed as "HDD name" and some places it is listed as "HDD_name". I have tried both combinations. I have tried with a slash at the end or without.

Does anyone know what the convention should be? What is the default dir? I haven't seen any examples or tutorials on this particular point. Maybe the problem is not the file location at all. I don't know.
