HP Nova-TD (dual Tuner) -> picture disappears
Added by P- U. over 13 years ago
Hi,
I have the following problem with the TVheadend.
My system:
- Zotac Ion 1.6 GHz
- 4 GB
- SSD
- Hauppauge Nova-TD (Dual Tuner)
- Ubuntu 11:04
- XBMC (11)
- HTS Tvheadend 02/12/1999
I have installed the dual tuner.
Tuner 1
Device path: /dev/dvb/adapter0
Device name: DiBcom 7000PC
Autodetect muxes: true
Idle scanning: false
Monitor quality signal: false
Write full DVB MUX to disk: false
NIT-o Network ID: 0
Tuner 2
Device path: /dev/dvb/adapter1
Device name: DiBcom 7000PC
Autodetect muxes: true
Idle scanning: true
Monitor quality signal: false
Write full DVB MUX to disk: false
NIT-o Network ID: 0
Access Control:
User Name * enabled for everything
Sometimes the sound as well as the picture work. But from time to time only the sound works without a picture an then five seconds later also the sound disappears.
I get the following message in the System Log:

continuity counter errors indicate bad signal reception.

Nova-TD is very sensitive on internal crosstalk between decoders (VCO tuning generates huge amount of noise, good engineering from hauppauge), i suggest to take out the "idle scanning" option. On TD-sticks this option ruins reception almost every time (Also affects badly on T-500 PCI cards too.
