Query Regarding Decrambling

Added by Arshvinder Singh Sehmi almost 11 years ago

Hi All,

I am back with my new query. This time its regarding descrambling paid tv channels of my region.

I am using airtel dth service (India). After seaching on net I came to know that airtel uses NDS Video Guard Encryption system. And I am not sure if airtel subscription card is compatible with any other CAM module/Card Reader.

I have found a card reader of TBS on their site. Please have a look at the following link, and suggest me if this can able to descrable airtel dth paid channels.

http://www.buydvb.net/dvbs2-tv-tuner-pci-c-/tbs3102-5-crystal-phoenixsmartmouse-card-reader-p-6.html

At the very bottom of the screen in an above link, dvb support team had replied -

"Thanks for asking about TBS3102 phoenix card reader. In theory, yes, TBS3102 can support Viaccess 4 card, but it depends on if you know how to set it up. It is said phoenix card reader requires different software to support different smart card. Phoenix card reader and CI+CAM module are just different way to read smart card. Phoenix card reader can work with some PC TV tuner card which has no CI port, TBS6922 for example."

So, my query here is what does this mean "It is said phoenix card reader requires different software to support different smart card."

What software they are talking about?

I am using right now TBS6985 to view free to air tv channels. But I want to use some card reader hardware to use my existing airtel tv card to view paid channels.

Please help!

Thanks & Regards,
ErSehmi

"It is said phoenix card reader requires different software to support different smart card."

What this means is that each card uses different frequencies and voltages to work so to use this device you need the right setup.

what you need to do is get oscam setup, find the settings for your card off somewhere online (hint: very little chance on this forum/site) and put them into oscam.

http://www.streamboard.tv/wiki/OSCam <- a good start in research before doing anything

A BIG NOTE THOUGH!! DON'T PUT YOUR CARD INTO THE READER UNTIL YOU ARE 100% THAT THE SETUP IS CORRECT AS WRONG SETTINGS CAN CAUSE THE READER TO DESTROY YOUR CARD!!
